Serving Others: An Ursuline Value

In 1535, Angela Merici, a woman in her 60s, began a new endeavor. she founded a group of women, some older, some younger, called the Company of St. Ursula. Their mission was to spread the Gospel message into the homes and hearts of their neighborhoods. They lived among their neighbors and responded to their needs--teaching, counseling, opening schools, and orphanages.

In response to our Ursuline roots, The Chatfield Edge encourages students to focus on serving their surrounding community. The Student Service Club (CSSC) is open to any individual who is art of The Chatfield Edge, as well as staff, mentors, and other volunteers.

In the past, the club has responded to the needs of the community in the following ways:

  • Assist at local food pantries
  • Collect clothing
  • Support families in need during Christmas with gifts
  • Participate in Fall Frolic and assist in school repairs
  • Blood drives
  • Operation Christmas Child
