First-year + high school seniors

We’re here to help make each step toward becoming a Chatfield student a smooth experience. Follow the steps below to apply to become a first-year student at Chatfield.

Step 1: Complete an application for admission and select “first-time college student.”

Step 2: Submit proof of graduation/GED or a copy of high school transcripts to admissions@chatfield.edu

  • High school seniors must submit their most current transcript to complete the application. We can accept unofficial copies with the application. Proof of graduation must be received before your status can be changed to degree-seeking.
  • If you don’t have a copy of your GED, you can request GED scores here.

Step 3: ACT/SAT is optional. You do not need to submit ACT/SAT scores. However, if you wish to use your scores as an alternative measure for course placement we will accept them.

Step 4: Fill out the FAFSA. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is used to award grants, loans, Federal Work-Study, and certain scholarships. Chatfield’s Federal School Code is 010880.

Step 5: Meet with a financial aid counselor to create your affordability plan. We will help you review your financial aid eligibility and discuss how many credit hours works best with your budget.

Step 6: Register for classes. You will meet with an academic advisor to discuss your goals and choose classes for the semester.

Step 7: Attend new student orientation. New student orientation is an important piece of a successful start. You will receive information about when orientation is offered. It is required that you attend a session.
